Learning a new language is about so much more than just studying grammar or memorizing vocabulary lists—it’s about building the confidence to use those skills in everyday life.
That is why the Livingston County Literacy Coalition is thrilled to announce the launch of our new English Language Learners Conversational Group! This ongoing, weekly group provides a warm, welcoming, and relaxed environment for English learners to practice speaking and listening.
If you or someone you know is looking for a supportive space to build real-world conversation skills, we would love to have you join us.
Real Skills for Everyday Life
Stepping out into the community to practice English can sometimes feel intimidating. Our conversational group is designed to take the pressure off. Together, we will practice navigating common, practical situations that our learners encounter every single day.
Our upcoming sessions will focus on practical topics such as:
Talking about Everyday Life: Share anything that has happened that you'd like to talk about!
Work Safety: Understanding workplace signage, communication, and safety protocols.
Doctor Visits: How to explain symptoms, schedule appointments, and talk to medical professionals.
Going to the Bank: Basic financial vocabulary, asking for help, and managing accounts.
Shopping: Navigating grocery stores, asking for prices, and interacting with cashiers.
...and much more!
