LCLC adult literacy Livingston County resource table at Community Connect 2026 in Brighton

The Livingston County Literacy Coalition (LCLC) was proud to continue its tradition of participating in Community Connect 2026, held Saturday, February 8 at 2|42 Community Church in Brighton.

Community Connect brings together organizations from across Livingston County to help residents learn about local programs, services, and resources. LCLC was pleased to be part of the event again this year, sharing information about the free literacy support available to adults in our community.

Connecting the Community With Adult Literacy in Livingston County

At our table, LCLC volunteers spoke with community members about our free, personalized adult literacy tutoring. LCLC supports adults who want to strengthen their reading and writing skills as well as English language learners who want to improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English.

Our tutoring is learner-centered and designed around each person's individual goals—whether that means communicating more confidently at work, navigating everyday life, improving reading and writing, supporting family members, or becoming more independent.

Community Connect also gave us an opportunity to meet people interested in becoming volunteer literacy tutors. Our trained volunteers are at the heart of LCLC and make it possible for adults throughout Livingston County to receive individualized literacy support.

Building Connections Through Community Outreach

Events like Community Connect help LCLC build relationships with learners, potential volunteers, and other organizations serving Livingston County.

These connections are an important part of our mission to empower adults through literacy and ensure that people in our community know where to turn when they—or someone they know—could benefit from additional reading, writing, or English language support.

We are grateful to everyone who stopped by our table and to the organizers and community partners who made Community Connect possible.
