Empowering Adults, Changing Lives: LCLC Receives $10,000 Grant from Dollar General Literacy Foundation

We have some incredible news to share with our Livingston County community!

The Livingston County Literacy Coalition (LCLC) has officially been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF). This generous funding is dedicated entirely to supporting and expanding our Adult Literacy programs right here at home.

A Nationwide Movement with Local Impact

This grant is part of a massive, record-setting single-day initiative by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, which awarded nearly $16 million in grants across 48 states to support adult, family, and summer literacy programs.

While the nationwide scope is massive, the impact will be felt very personally right here in Howell and throughout Livingston County.

Strengthening the Heart of LCLC: Our Volunteer Tutors

At LCLC, we know that literacy is the foundation for opportunity, confidence, and independence. Our volunteer tutor program is the absolute heartbeat of this mission.

With this $10,000 grant, we are focusing our resources where they matter most—investing in the incredible volunteers who give their time to lift others up. We will be using these funds to strengthen and expand our program by focusing on:

• Recruitment: Reaching out to find new, passionate individuals ready to make a difference.

• Comprehensive Training: Equipping our tutors with the best tools and methodologies to teach effectively.

• Mentoring & Support: Ensuring our tutors have a strong network and guidance as they work with students.

• Professional Development: Providing ongoing learning opportunities to keep our teaching standards high.
